Today’s turf specialists have a great deal of new technology at their disposal. Developments in machinery, seeds, and turfgrass research have resulted in greater plant response and more productive turf management programs.

Turf Lab test equipment offers a unique method for colorimetric analysis of turf soils. Nutrients are measured as clear liquidextracts and are read against translucent color standards in an Octa- Slide Comparator. This method gives reliable, efficient and practical way of measuring soil nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, iron and pH. Another advancement is the potassium test, which uses a turbidity tube calibrated to read directly in pounds acre for low to high values. Analyses calcium and magnesium are conducted with direct reading titrators.

Turf Lab tests are designed for years of dependable performance and can be used efficiently and accurately in the field and in the lab. A 6" brass soil sampler with a small 3/8" core diameter easily removes soil samples from turf. A pad of soil report forms, soil sampling bags, and a copy of the Soil Handbook are furnished with complete reagents and labware in a rugged carrying case.

The Turf Lab offers the analyst immediate measurement of critical soil factors on-site or in the lab. Each test uses a clear liquid extract which is measured against translucent color standards using an Octa-Slide Comparator. Potassium is analyzed by using a Direct Reading Turbidity Tube, while calcium and magnesium tests are made with a direct reading Titrator. For evaluation of clay, silt, and sand fraction, a soil texture test is included. Soil temperature is measured by a bi-metallic dial thermometer with a 127 mm (5") stem.
